Database Consultant

At SolvEdge, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Consultant to join our team. The
ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in PostgreSQL database management, wit
expertise in designing and implementing stored procedures, performing data migrations from SQL Server to
PostgreSQL, and possessing in-depth knowledge of Amazon Aurora. You will be responsible for managing
complex database environments and providing expert guidance on database solutions.

What You’ll Do

As a Database Consultant at SolvEdge, you will execute data migrations, optimize database performance,
and ensure the integrity and reliability of our data systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping
our database architecture, enabling seamless data management, and supporting our mission to empower
healthcare professionals with innovative technology solutions.

Your primary duties include

Database Design & Architecture

• Design and implement robust database solutions using PostgreSQL, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.

• Develop, maintain, and optimize stored procedures, triggers, and functions for PostgreSQL.

• Collaborate with development teams to design database schemas and architectures for new and existing applications

Data Migration

• Lead and execute the migration of data from SQL Server to PostgreSQL, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime

• Perform data validation, testing, and troubleshooting post-migration to ensure successful data transformation.

• Automate migration processes and document procedures for future migrations.

Database Administration

• Monitor, maintain, and tune databases to ensure high availability, performance, and security.

• Implement database backup and disaster recovery solutions.

• Regularly perform database health checks, capacity planning, and performance optimizations.

Amazon Aurora Management

• Deploy, configure, and manage Amazon Aurora databases in the cloud.

• Optimize Aurora database performance, scalability, and security according to industry best practices.

• Monitor Aurora clusters, set up automated failover mechanisms, and handle database replication.

Consulting & Advisory

• Provide expert consulting services on database optimization, data migration strategies, and best practices in database management

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide database support and guidance during application development and deployment phases.

• Deliver technical guidance to clients on database migrations, AWS Aurora setups, and PostgreSQL optimizations

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare technical documentation for database designs, stored procedures, migration processes, and database optimizations.

• Generate regular reports on database performance, migration progress, and any identified issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in database management, particularly in PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
• Proven experience in SQL Server to PostgreSQL data migration, with a focus on ensuring data integrity and minimizing downtime.
• Proficiency in writing and optimizing stored procedures, functions, and triggers in PostgreSQL.
• Strong experience with Amazon Aurora, including database management, replication, and performance optimization.
• Expertise in database performance tuning, backup strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
• Familiarity with cloud database deployments, particularly in AWS environments.
• Strong SQL scripting and database administration skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot database issues.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with other cloud databases, such as Amazon RDS or DynamoDB.
• Familiarity with database monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, pgAdmin, or SQL Profiler.
• Experience with automating database administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
• AWS certifications in database or cloud technologies are a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
